I just threw a review up of Shinedown’s CD Leave a Whisper. If you’re curious, it didn’t get very good marks from me. You can read the review to find out more. I also overhauled the review section. I updated all the reviews to the new style I started doing with Ill Nino back in September.

Lyrical talent

I’ve just added a poem I just finished. I told Mandi I’d write her something. Ode to a Fallen Star Who Will Rise Again is what I came up with. You may also check out my review of Funeral For a Friend’s Seven Ways to Scream Your Name in my music section.

A broken streak?

Here I am after a great weekend. First of all, I’d like to say we’re back to the good part of winter here in MN. That means heavy snows and nice mild temperatures around 10 or 20 degrees. Right now, I’ve even elected to skip seeing the Stanley Cup. It’s on display at the Hockey center in St. Cloud right now as it makes its trip around the state. This weekend is the NHL All-Star game so there’s all kinds of events going on all week. It’s a damn shame they all cost so much money and I am broke. I would be so happy if I could win the 4 pack of passes to the game on Saturday that 93X is giving away. Lower level seats. A chance to see the stars up close. KICK ASS!

Thursday night was a surpise. Mandi, a girl who I’d known for 2 years over the internet, was coming to visit. You can imagine how weird it is seeing someone who you’ve talked to and gotten to know but never seen. I was very nervous to see her, but once she got here, I was completely at ease. We watched the Wild lose in overtime to Montreal and just talked. She also ended up coming up here again on Saturday, but I’ll leave that to the Saturday paragraph to explain.

Well on Friday, I attended my classes for the day, screwed around in my apartment for awhile and then took off for St. Cloud. It was Luke’s birthday party at his old house. I showed up to find Luke and the guys who lived there. We partied heartily til about 1AM before I took off. At the end we were all just zoning out to Family Guy on DVD. I never get tired of seeing that show. It’s so wrong in so many ways, but so funny at the same time.

It felt great to sleep in on Saturday. I basically nothing until about 3. Then I finally showered and got some food. Mandi called me at some point around 3 or 4 and said she was thinking about coming to hang out again. I was pumped since she came to my place this past Thursday and we had a good time watching hockey. So finally around 7 she showed up. We watched the hockey game (which the Wild lost BTW) and then headed to Erik and Amanda’s apartment. It was the usual drinking and cards there. I managed to get sufficiently drunk off of Jager shots. YUM! Some time after midnight, we headed back home and finished off the night with some Aqua Teen episodes on DVD. Another so wrong, but so funny cartoon.

Sunday I was again lazy as hell. I slept in again, and just lounged around all day. Mandi made the weekend though. That girl is so great to hang out with. She’s been through some hard times, but she’s still a great person. I won’t go into detail, but I will say there was some cuddling and kssing going on this weekend between us. I really don’t want to make an official comment on our status without talking to her first though. I hope it works out. I think I’d be stupid not to be with her. She’s beautiful, hot, funny, likes punk and hockey, and a whole lot more. Needless to say, she’s been on my mind constantly since I saw her Thursday. I’ll know more tonight when I talk to her. The streak may be broken (it only took 3 years!).

Of couse I saw the Superbowl. Well, not all of it, just parts. Mandi and I tuned in a little late and only saw about the last 10 minutes of the first quarter which was pretty boring anyway. We then headed over to the apartments for a little party. All of us were uninterested in the halftime show so we just watched some other stuff during the show. I heard about the whole Janet/Timberlake thing. There’s rumors flying that it was accidental, rumors that it was planned. I don’t know which it was, but I saw the video after, and it wasn’t that big of a deal. Yea, it was national television and no one was expecting it, but I’ve seen more in PG movies. Anyway, back to the game. To tell you the truth, I wasn’t all that interested in it. It seems every year I watch the first half and then just don’t care. I had to take off around 8:30 because I had to work at 9. Mandi sadly had to go too. I kept tabs on the rest of the game through the Superbowl website. I was rooting for Carolina. So I was a bit dissapointed in the results. That and I’ve got this thing about the Patriots winning. I guess it just goes back to the whole 911/Patriots win the Superbowl thing. Coincidence, you decide. I do think Carolina made some mistakes with those 2 point conversions though.
