Sorry for lack of updates, hasn’t been much of anything too exciting to post. I got a couple new geek toys for free today. One is the Lanplex. I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of router, but I’m not totally sure. I know my high school used it as their main backbone. It was used to divide the school Appletalk network into zones (basically vlans if you know networking). Don’t really know if the ports are 10 or 100base. I know one port is at least. I figured at least it’d be a good learning tool or I can make some money off ebay with it. The other thing I got was an Asante 5216. It’s a 16 port 10base managed switch. Again, not so great, but a good learning tool/money making item.
Here’s a couple pics:
Both boxes on my floor.

A similar shot of the Lanplex
Geek.
On a side note, my new motherboard hates me. It recognizes my 512 MB RAM stick as only being 1024 K large. Fucking great.
see boys… this is why i’m a psychology major and play with boys on the side. less crucial than computer parts. :0)
even the worst computer fuck up is nothing compared to a minor accident with any type of female
If your wondering, the LANplex 2500 is primarily 10base-t (the two modules with the most ports). The single port is 10/100mbps. Unfortunatly you cannot have lots of 10/100 because you can only use two modules with 2 10/100mbps ports on them, the rest are FDDI or 10-base-t, aux, etc…
if you want, i will trade you your single 10/100mbps module for an FDDI module so you can do fibre networking
