The joys of internet radio

Posted: 5:09AM Tagged: Life, Work

I’m sitting here waiting til 5 so I can go home from work today. The last two days, I’ve not not much else but work. And when I’m at work, all I have to do is babysit the phones. Thing is, since I’m just a peon here, they don’t give me access to any tools, passwords, or authority. 9 times out of 10, I answer the phone and either take a message or transfer it to someone else in the office. Let’s just say I’m not feeling really useful. Then again, why am I complaining about sitting around and answering the phone once in awhile when I get paid $12/hr to do it?

Anyways… One thing that I’ve sort of rediscovered in the last few days is internet radio. I threw iTunes on my work laptop a couple weeks ago just for the hell of it. I never really liked it before because it was a resource hog. But it seems with a small amount of files, it’s ok. It only took me a day or so to get bored with what I had on there, so I flicked over to the internet radio portion of iTunes. Within a few minutes, I was listening to ChroniX Agression, a metal channel. I’ve been listening to it all day and it’s provided me with at least decent music during those long desk hours. Just a little tip to those cubicle warriors out there. Internet radio can be a savior!

Some quick reviews

Posted: 11:09AM Tagged: Life

Here are some quick reviews of things I’ve gotten lately.

Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death
The most poppy thing I’ve ever heard. Best example of punk poser if I ever saw it. Look for the tour with Avril Lavigne.

Green Day - American Idiot
Still nothing like back in the Dookie days. Much better than anything they’ve put out between this and Dookie though. Since when do they start wearing mascara in their videos?

Chevelle - This Type of Thinking Could Do Us In
If you liked Wonder What’s Next, you’ll like this. If you’re looking for something refreshing in the rock scene, you might want to look elsewhere.

The Used - In Love and Death
Mostly along the same lines as their first album. A bit more poppy and a bit less screamo. Take It All Away, the single, is probably the best offering off this disc.

The Sleeping - Believe What We Tell You
My latest screamo crush. A good blend emo and harder punk styles. What The Used album could’ve been.

It Dies Today - The Catliff Choir
Mmm mmm mmm, Campbells said it best. Some good double bass metalcore here. At the top of a fast becoming stale genre.

Diecast - Tearing Down Your Blue Skies
Another great metalcore album. About on par with their previous. I’m definately missing the mix of the bass drum off of Days of Reckoning.

Star Wars Trilogy on DVD
Star Wars the way it was meant to be seen. Two thumbs up for the bonus documentary included. Angry evil sneers for adding Haden Christinansen to the end of Return of the Jedi.

That about wraps things up folks. Stay tuned for more from me. Oh and if you haven’t yet, help me out with the iPod and the Flat Screen. See links below:

More shady free deals

Posted: 12:09PM Tagged: Life, Site News

I’m back with another one of those free deal thingies. Sign up for a free flat screen with this link

http://www.FreeFlatScreens.com/default.aspx?referer=9516279

I did Infone this time. Apparently, there’s no fees and if you never use it, you don’t get charged. I’ve also been doing a little browsing on these free offers. I found this useful site. They have a conga line too. The idea is simple, you sign up under someone else’s link, complete all your stuff, and then you’re done. Takes a bit for you to move up the line, but its worth it. Just do it and forget about it pretty much.

Also, I’ve got my ass in gear with some more coding for this site. Yesterday was a killer coding day for me. I spent a good 4 or 5 hours on and off throughout the day on some new functionality. I found a little help with pagination on PHPfreaks.com that I plan on using in my video and album (now featuring cover art) lists. Things aren’t up and working yet, but I am very close. The problem I’m having is getting the pagination to work with searching. I’m confident it can be done and that I’ll have things coded in the next few days.

I am really tired tonight for some reason. It won’t help much that I have to get to work by 7AM tomorrow. At least it’s the weekend. I thought work was going to be winding down this week. Turns out it’s ramping up again. After a little fallout between the service coop and the county school district late last week, I thought for sure this was it. But things are patched up now and we’re moving right along.

Lately, I’ve been watching The Screen Savers religiously. I love that show! I though it used to be OK before, but since they’ve moved to G4TechTV and gotten a few new hosts, it rules. Kevin and Alex are great together. They play off each other really well and you can tell they’re friends outside the show. Kevin’s girlfriend, Sarah, is the perfect hot geek girl to have on the show. Then there’s Dan and Yoshi hamming it up. I download the show every day from a BitTorrent link since I don’t get the actual channel. I think I’m getting addicted. Is that bad!?

No real news on the job front this week. I applied for a handful more jobs, and have either gotten rejected or haven’t heard back yet. The current focus is still just getting my resume out in hopes that I’ll be able to do some more in depth searching once my full time job starts to fade away. I have taken the advice of my uncle and started looking for some temp positions that I could do to gain experience. He said the tech guys at his company did that before they were there.

So yea, that’s my life right now. Nothing too exciting. Oh yea, I forgot I was going to make a post about this a week ago. I got some new toys. Kinda like Christmas in September. But not really since I bought most of it. Whatever, I still took some pictures.

Content?

It’s bout time I added some new stuff to the site for people to look at. I got all ambitious tonight and finished adding all my music videos to the database. Came out to 1400 and I didn’t add in a partial CD yet. That’s a lot of damn videos folks! You know, if I didn’t think I’d get sued, I’d put a copy of the whole lot up on eBay for a decent price (under $100). On the off chance that you would be interested in a copy, get ahold of me and we can talk.

Also in the music section, I started adding CD’s to my albums database. I’m at 84 as of tonight with roughly 125 or so more CD’s to add. Then it’s on to MP3’s. I’m gonna guess it’ll end up around 300 albums when things are all done.

Wrapping things up, I’ve been adding a desktop screenie here and there along with a few wallpapers and some pictures in the gallery. Hit any of those up if you feel so inclined to check them out.

I want a free iPod

Posted: 4:09AM Tagged: Life

Yes, you can call me an idiot, but this apparently works. If anyone wants to help me out with getting a free iPod, just go here.

For my free offer, I did Stamps.com and then called up and cancelled about 10 minutes after opeing my account saying that my cousin opened the account and I told him he couldn’t. It worked!
