Yesterday Andy pointed me to a job he found on Monster. It’s for an entry level web designer. Perfect for me! The only problem is in the job description they required a portfolio website.
I was already in the process of designing one because I wanted to start getting into a little more paid web design on the side. I’m being very picky this time around with my design though and it is taking a long time. Any feedback I could get would be great. I know it’s pretty barebones right now, I’ll be working on it most of the day until I get things mostly done. Here’s the link: http://jrmehle.homelinux.net/studioj/

Looks nice and professional like. I’ve also been thinking about doing some design on the side. Some of the contractors and small businesses in my area need pamphlets and flyers and brochures made and they have a hard time paying a professional company to run off a bajillion copies that they don’t need so there’s kind of a vacuum to be filled by a small designer. I’m going to talk to a friend of my dad’s to see what he might need.
Oh, and on a side note, my site is back up. Woot.
I like the overall design. The icons look a little too “shiny” and really stick out. Not sure if that’s good or bad.
For a portfolio site, it looks a bit portfolio-less. Just a personal opinion though.
