I kind of goofed up tonight. Yes, my layout is gone. In my quest for a more perfect blog, I decided to incorperate my blog into wordpress more kind of making it a theme instead of just a homebrew mess of code. Long story short… chances are I’ll give up on that design until I can get everything working again or I’ll just work on my new design instead and upload that when its ready to roll. We’ll see.
For now, enjoy my blog in Kubrick form. I know, I know all the cool stuff is gone which just leaves my crappy words to read. I’ll get it fixed soon.

A short year ago, I was graduating. Seems like not too long ago, but damn it’s been a year. I can definately say I never would’ve predicted what I’d be doing at this point. It’s pretty funny; a year out of a college and I’m still job searching. I guess the job search never ends.
I made it back to ole alma mater last weekend for a couple days. Mostly hung out with the parents, but I did some boozin and saw some old friends. I liked it so much, I’ll be headed back this week to see everyone graduate. Sad, but it may be the last I see of some people since I have a tendancy to not keep in touch very well. Even though email and instant messaging are there, sometimes I don’t even use those to keep in touch.
I’ve been plugging away at a new design I hope to unveil within a month here. Once again, it’ll be a step up from anything else I’ve ever done. I’m not quite sure on how long it’ll take to get things into working order, but the graphics are definately set. It’ just the code I need to work out. Of course I’m one of those people who designs on the fly. Sure I come into the project with a few ideas here and there, but I have to really get cranking on it before anything truely creative comes out. It’s like Pauly Jr. on American Chopper. He’ll star building a bike and as he goes along, he comes up with more and more ideas and little things to add. I’m exactly the same way. I never know what I’m going to end up with until I finish it. Usually that’s a good thing, unless I’m under a deadline. Then I usually struggle to reach for innovative ideas. I’m not sure I could make it in the business world as a web designer. I do my best work when I’m not under pressure and have time to just play around with ideas.

If you’re viewing this, then my server made it through my reinstall ok. I had a few issues while reinstalling over the weekend. I got tired and gave up on Saturday night, but found the errors of my ways on Sunday and was able to bring my site back up.
For the technically proficient, the problem with with my Linux kernel. Apparently in the new version of Gentoo (2005.0), they don’t use the /dev/pts filesystem like they had in the past. So when I copied my old kernel config over and compiled the new kernel, it had those options enabled when they shouldn’t have been. This was giving me a problem with booting.
For the most part things are back to normal, but I am having some issues with bind. For some reason, it’s not working with the exact same config file. Looks like I’m in for some more reading on DNS caching.
Update: Looks like my bind problem was a missing semicolon in my conf file. STUPID SEMICOLONS!

A little reference for you Tarintino freaks. Anyway, I’m sitting here working overtime and it’s dead. Why they needed extra people tonight is beyond me, but if they want to pay me time and a half to sit here and blog, that’s cool with me.
Last night I was a “model” for Laura’s salon. One of their trainees needed to give some one an all over color. I said what the heck, I’ll do it. So I went in and got bleached. What was nice is he cut my hair too. I haven’t had my hair cut by someone else for so long. I think it was sometime during the summer between my freshmen and sophomore year a college. It is SO much cheaper cutting it myself. For awhile I just borrowed a roommates clippers, but eventually my mom bought some for me for my birthday and I haven’t had a professional cut since.
This weekend I’m going to head up to St. John’s for the LAN party. It should be good fun since Justin, Mike, and Brandon are all going to be there as well. I’m sure I’ll get drunk and play lots of video games and then come back and complain about how quick my weekend went.
For tonight I’ll be hanging out with Burns for his 24th birthday. Wow, I just realized it’s his golden. Guess I’ll have to make it extra special. Which means buying him some good beer and then drinking it with him. Yep! Sounds like a plan

After toiling away at my code and several rewrites, I concocted a working pagination script in PHP for my reviews, albums, and videos. Check it out right now. Since I’ve finally locked that part down, I’m going to move on to adding more robust features to the site as well as finally cataloging all of my music. Lots of work for me, lots of stuff for readers to look at.
P.S. If you find anything that’s broken on my music page, let me know by comment here or email.

Wordpress, the content manager I run my site with, has released version 1.5 of their awesome software. I dropped the update in yesterday so you may notice a few glitches here and there while I adapt to the new features. Hopefully this will clear up a lot of the spam I was getting.
